What are bare-root roses?

Bare-root roses are grown in a field, then harvested during their dormant season for shipping. The soil has been removed from the roots, giving them the name “bare-root”. The roots must be kept moist and frost-free until they are planted in the ground. Advantages of purchasing plants bare-root include affordability and ease of transport and planting.
